Yes, we really CAN. January 2024 Newsletter

Welcome to our first monthly newsletter for the Community Action Network (CAN)

The mission of CAN, spearheaded by the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA), is to empower communities and facilitate transformative change within municipalities by giving organised communities access to tools that enables best practices, knowledge with regards to municipal affairs, networking abilities and more.

Through uniting local communities, fostering organisation, and facilitating coordinated efforts, CAN aims to amplify the collective voice of communities and address local concerns effectively. By doing so, CAN seeks to contribute to the betterment of society and create a platform where communities actively engage in shaping their future.

Despite the numerous challenges facing our country, both political and economic, there is a newfound sense among communities for a different kind of self-determination—one rooted not in isolation but in the spirit of ubuntu. We believe that co-governance is the future of our municipalities and it all starts here.

By working together, communities can recognise their potential and take meaningful steps towards building a brighter future for themselves and future generations. It is incumbent upon all of us to make it a reality.

CAN’s monthly newsletter aims to help your community organisation and we welcome any input, suggestions and ideas.

Become part of the co-governance movement.

Let’s be the change.

We look forward in working towards better communities for all,

Kind regards,

Julius Kleynhans

Executive Manager for Local Government at OUTA.
